Kentucky tight end Willie Rodriguez just landed on the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Watch List, and it ain't just about his stats. The Taylor Mill native can ball, 452 career yards and a fresh touchdown to start the season, but the real boss moves are off the field.

Rodriguez built his foundation at home helping take care of his sister Gabby, who battles Rett syndrome, and turned that into pure community hustle. He’s out here putting in real hours at Golisano Children's Hospital, working with Easterseals, and running shoe drives for special needs camps.

Semifinalists drop October 13, and the winner gets a $10K bag cut to their school's scholarship fund. That's how a real heavyweight handles business. photo courtesy UK Athletics.

Look, out in Bowling Green at Western Kentucky’s tournament, Eastern Kentucky walked into an ambush. Pepperdine came through, handled their business, and swept the Colonels 3-0 like a hostile takeover.

EKU’s girl Emilee Hill put in heavy work trying to carry the squad, 15 kills, 19 assists, hitting over .300. She was out there hustling for every inch. But Pepperdine is ruthless in the clutch. Every time a set got tight down the stretch, tied at 22, tied late in the second, the Waves shut the door and took what was theirs. By the third set, Pepperdine broke off an 11-3 run, locked down the net with 11 blocks on the day, and put the match on ice 25-21.

Pepperdine walks away 5-3, Colonels take the L to fall to 5-2. EKU can’t sit around crying about it, though, they got Western Kentucky next on ESPN+, and that’s another crew waiting to take their spot if they don’t get right. photo courtesy EKU Athletics.

SHE’S REALLY LIKE THAT: EKU’s Emilee Hill goes back-to-back with UAC Player of the Week honors.

Two weeks into the season, two trophies already on the mantle.

Eastern Kentucky senior setter Emilee Hill isn’t just living up to the preseason billing, she’s completely dominating the floor. The league office down in Jacksonville made it official on Monday, naming the Yorktown, Indiana native the United Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after she previously took home the conference’s inaugural honor on Aug. 31.

When you're named UAC Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason Setter of the Year, teams circle your name on the scout. It hasn't mattered. Over the weekend at Georgia Southern’s GATA Challenge, Hill put on an absolute clinic in all-around volleyball, casually walking away with two triple-doubles and a double-double in three matches.

Check the stat sheet across the weekend:

Radford: Set a new career-high with 19 kills to go along with 28 assists, 15 digs, 4 blocks, and 3 aces.

Prairie View A&M: Another triple-double secured, 13 kills, 28 assists, 10 digs, 3 aces, and a block.

Georgia Southern: Missed a third straight triple-double by a single swing, posting 25 assists, 21 digs, 9 kills, and 3 blocks.

That puts her season averages at 2.93 kills, 5.79 assists, 3.36 digs, 0.57 blocks, and 0.43 aces per set.

With three triple-doubles already under her belt this season, Hill is now sitting on 18 for her career. Straight stat-sheet stuffer. The Colonels have an absolute cheat code running the offense in Richmond. photo courtesy EKU Athletics.

The hype around true freshman Kenny Darby wasn’t just preseason chatter, it was a preview.

In his collegiate debut against Youngstown State, the Bossier City native wasted zero time validating his spot on the 247Sports Preseason True Freshman All-America Team. On Kentucky’s opening drive, quarterback Kenny Minchey dialed up Darby for an explosive 33-yard strike to set the tone and spark the Wildcats' first score of the afternoon.

Darby put the exclamation point on the 45-13 blowout in the fourth quarter, blowing past coverage for a 37-yard touchdown reception. He finished the contest leading the Wildcats with three catches for nearly 80 yards and a score, demonstrating why head coach Will Stein prioritized him as his very first high school signee last December.

Debut Stat Line & Highlights

Receptions: 3 catches, team-high ~78 yards, 1 TD

Explosive Plays: 33-yard catch on drive one; 37-yard touchdown strike in the 4th quarter

Pedigree: Consensus 4-star recruit out of Louisiana; posted back-to-back 1,000+ yard prep seasons before arriving in Lexington

Kentucky found an instant separator on the perimeter. If Week 1 is any indication, the Minchey-to-Darby connection is set to be must-watch football in Lexington all autumn long.

BBN, Coach Will Stein just put out the challenge…

“We have to make this the loudest game in the history of Kentucky football.”

Not just loud.
Not just good.
The loudest it’s ever been at Kroger Field.

He wants 65,000 in the stands for warmups.

He wants the place so disruptive Alabama can’t even hear themselves think.

He wants every single voice gone by the end of the night , the kind of night where you’re calling out of work Monday because you physically can’t talk.

This is our first SEC home game of the Will Stein era.

#12 Alabama is coming to Lexington.

Stripe out. Heroes Day. First Responders Recognition.

Time to answer the call.
Get there early.
Stay loud.
Make history.

Who’s answering the challenge? 🔥

The Kentucky baseball team will both open and close its 2027 Southeastern Conference schedule at Kentucky Proud Park as bookends to the 10-weekend journey that begins in mid-March.

On March 19, 2027 the Wildcats kick off conference play by hosting Georgia for a three-game series in Lexington before hitting the road to face Missouri. UK closes the regular season by travelling to Arkansas and hosting LSU at Kentucky Proud Park.

The Cats, who reached a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament last spring for the first time in school history, also will host Texas A&M, Florida and South Carolina. It also faces road trips to Vanderbilt, defending national champion Oklahoma and Alabama.

The non-conference schedule and ticket information will be announced at a later date. Conference series are subject to change for television scheduling.

The Cats are entering their 11th season under head coach Nick Mingione and have won 326 games during his tenure, including a College World Series appearance in 2024. The program signed top 10 transfer portal and top 10 high school recruiting classes in the offseason and is the only SEC program to reach the past four regional championships.

Big-time SEC action is rolling into Lexington this Friday night as Kentucky women’s soccer gets set to defend home turf!

Kentucky (4-3) opens up conference play at the Bell Soccer Complex against Texas A&M (4-3), with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. ET streaming live on SEC Network+. Friday’s match will also mark Heroes and First Responders Day to honor those who serve, with early-arriving fans scoring an exclusive Kentucky soccer scarf at the gate.

The Matchup & History
Texas A&M holds the historical edge at 8-1-2 dating back to 1999, but don't let the past fool you, the last meeting belonged entirely to Kentucky. Last season, the squad went into College Station and dominated the Aggies 3-0, fueled by three different goal scorers and a four-save clean sheet from Megan Holland.

Kentucky is looking to bounce back after a tough 2-1 battle against Bowling Green, where Holland tallied a career-high five saves and standout freshman Kyla Dawn notched another goal off an assist from Michelle Moskau. Texas A&M comes in fresh off a 4-0 shutout against SFA, outshooting the Ladyjacks 33-2.

Offensive Firepower by the Numbers
Kentucky has been lighting up scoreboards all fall, piling up 28 goals on 130 shots to tie Vanderbilt for the SEC’s top scoring offense (No. 4 nationally).

Total Goals: 28 (2nd SEC / 3rd NCAA)
Goal Differential: +19 (3rd SEC / 8th NCAA)
Total Points: 71 (3rd SEC / 8th NCAA)
Corner Kicks Per Game: 8.57 (2nd SEC / 9th NCAA)
Points Per Game: 10.14 (3rd SEC / 10th NCAA)
Shots on Goal Per Game: 9.57 (2nd SEC / 10th NCAA)

Player to Watch
Freshman phenom Kyla Dawn has taken the conference by storm. The two-time SEC Freshman of the Week paces the entire league in shot accuracy (.750, good for 3rd in the country) while carrying the team with 18 points, 8 goals, 2 assists, and 12 shots on target through just seven games.

It all goes down Friday at 7:30 p.m. under the lights at The Bell as Kentucky looks to open SEC competition with a statement win. photo source UK Athletics.

Unbelievable news out of the pool this week, people!

Freshman phenom Karrington Hansen just cracked the 2026–27 USA Swimming Women’s Junior National Team. She’s one of 79 swimmers in the entire country to get the nod, making her national team debut, and let me tell you, she earned every drop of it. No subjective nonsense, no committee room politics: this is purely by the stopwatch, taking the top six fastest times in the nation.

And she's already riding a heater after lighting it up at the World Aquatics Junior Open Water Championships, bagging bronze in the 4x1500m relay and taking 14th overall in the brutal 10km open water grind. Fourteen kilometers of open water, Mike! I get tired watching the sprinkler!

Now the rookie brings all that momentum to campus, giving the Wildcats a monster jolt of adrenaline heading into the season. Hansen and the squad hit the water for their intrasquad scrimmage on September 25 before welcoming Florida for a massive dual meet on October 2. Big time stuff for the kid. photo source UK Athletics.

🐱 BIG BLUE SHOWED UP! 💙

Week 1 attendance numbers are in across the SEC, and Kentucky checked in at #12 with 60,166 fans in the stands. 👀🏈

That puts the Wildcats ahead of Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, but there’s plenty of room for Big Blue Nation to climb this list as the season rolls on.

60,166 strong in Week 1.
