🦷✨ **DID YOU KNOW?! WE RECOMMEND FLUORIDE VARNISH AT EVERY CLEANING!** ✨🦷

You may have heard us ask, **“Would you like fluoride today?”** during your cleaning—but have you ever wondered *why* we recommend it? 🤔

🪥 **Fluoride varnish is a quick and simple way to give your teeth an extra layer of protection!**

Here’s why we recommend it at your routine cleaning:

🦷 **Helps prevent cavities**
Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and helps make teeth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque and bacteria.

💪 **Strengthens weakened enamel**
Every day, acids from food, drinks, and bacteria can cause minerals to leave your enamel. Fluoride helps support the natural remineralization process.

🛡️ **Provides extra protection**
Even with excellent brushing and flossing, some areas are harder to keep perfectly clean. Fluoride varnish gives your teeth additional protection between visits.

😬 **Can help with sensitivity**
Fluoride can help strengthen exposed or sensitive areas of teeth and may reduce sensitivity for some patients.

⏱️ **It only takes a few minutes!**
The varnish is quickly painted onto the teeth after your cleaning and sets in place, allowing the fluoride to stay in contact with your enamel.

✨ **Think of it as a little extra insurance for your smile!**

🦷📸 **DID YOU KNOW THERE’S MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF DENTAL X-RAY?!** 📸🦷

At **Limestone Dentistry**, we use different types of dental X-rays depending on what we need to see. Each one gives us a different view of your mouth and helps us provide the best care possible! 🦷✨

Here’s a quick breakdown:

🔎 **FMX – Full Mouth Series**
A **FMX** is a complete series of X-rays that gives us a detailed look at all of your teeth. We use these to evaluate the teeth, roots, bone levels, and areas between the teeth that we can’t see during a regular exam.

🦷 **PANO – Panoramic X-Ray**
A **panoramic X-ray** captures a broad view of your entire mouth in one image! It allows us to see the upper and lower jaws, teeth, jaw joints, and surrounding structures. It can be especially helpful when evaluating wisdom teeth, developing teeth, and overall jaw structure.

😁 **BWX – Bitewing X-Rays**
**Bitewings** are the small X-rays you may be familiar with from your regular checkups. They are excellent for detecting **cavities between the teeth** and checking the bone levels around your teeth.

🔬 **CBCT – 3D Imaging**
A **CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)** creates a **3D image** of your teeth, jawbone, and surrounding structures. This gives us much more detailed information when we need to evaluate things such as implants, impacted teeth, complex dental conditions, or certain areas of the jaw.

💡 **Why do we need different X-rays?**
Think of it like taking pictures from different angles! 📸 Each type of X-ray gives us different information, allowing us to see what we **can't see with our eyes alone.**

At Limestone Dentistry, we use the appropriate imaging based on each patient's individual needs—not every patient needs every type of X-ray. ❤️

🦷 **Healthy smiles start with seeing the whole picture!**

🦷✨ **DID YOU KNOW?!** ✨🦷

Just because your child is in **orthodontic treatment doesn’t mean they can skip their regular dental visits!** 😁

🪥 **Kids with braces still need their 6-month cleaning & checkup!**

In fact, keeping up with regular dental visits is **extra important during orthodontic treatment** because braces can make it easier for plaque and food to hide around brackets and wires.

At their regular visit, we can:
✨ Professionally clean around brackets and wires
🦷 Check for cavities and enamel changes
🪥 Monitor gum health
🔍 Look for areas that may need extra attention
📋 Keep track of their overall oral health while they’re working toward that perfect smile!

Your orthodontist is focused on **straightening the teeth**, while your general dentist is focused on keeping those teeth **healthy and strong!** 💪🦷

So remember: **Braces + regular dental checkups = a healthier smile!** ❤️

📅 If your child is in orthodontics, make sure their 6-month cleaning and checkup is on the calendar!

🥪🦷 **A BIG THANK YOU, DANIELLE!** 🦷🥪

We had a fabulous lunch & learn with **Danielle from Waterpik!** 💙 Thank you, Danielle, for treating our team to lunch and sharing so much valuable information about Waterpik and the benefits of water flossing!

💦 **Did you know?** Water flossers can be a great addition to your daily oral hygiene routine by using a stream of water to help clean **between teeth and along the gumline**—areas that can be difficult to reach with brushing alone.

They can be especially helpful for patients with:
✨ Braces or other orthodontic appliances
✨ Dental implants, bridges, or crowns
✨ Areas that are difficult to clean with traditional floss
✨ Gum health concerns
✨ Limited dexterity who may find traditional flossing difficult

And remember—**water flossing doesn't replace brushing!** The best home-care routine includes brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between your teeth every day. 🪥💦

We’re always excited to keep learning so we can provide our patients with the best recommendations for their smiles!

Thank you again, Danielle, for a wonderful lunch & learn! 💙

🦷💉 Taking a GLP-1? Don’t Forget About Your Smile! We have been getting several questions about how these effect your oral health, so we thought we should break it down for you.

Medications like Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® have become increasingly common for diabetes and weight management. But did you know they can also have indirect effects on your oral health?

Here are a few things we want our patients taking GLP-1 medications to know:

💧 Dry Mouth
GLP-1 medications may contribute to dry mouth, and reduced saliva can increase the risk of cavities, sensitivity, and gum problems.

🤢 Nausea & Vomiting
GI side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and reflux can expose your teeth to stomach acid, which may contribute to enamel erosion over time.

😮‍💨 Bad Breath & Taste Changes
Some patients report bad breath or changes in taste while taking GLP-1 medications.

💦 Hydration Matters!
If you're experiencing decreased thirst or reduced fluid intake, make an effort to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying hydrated can help support healthy saliva flow.

🪥 Our biggest tip: Keep brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, stay hydrated, and keep up with your regular dental visits.

At Limestone Dentistry, we're here to care for the whole smile — not just the teeth! 💚🦷
