In this Dental Diagnosis case, a patient developed sensitivity and slight movement in her front teeth after undergoing an unrelated procedure under general anaesthesia. A thorough consultation, 3D imaging and clinical photographs initially showed nothing obvious — so Dr E Epstein investigated further with focused periapical X-rays.

That deeper investigation revealed trauma to one of the front teeth, likely sustained during airway management while the patient was under anaesthesia. Because the tooth was non-vital, the extent of the injury was not immediately obvious.

It is a powerful reminder of why persistent or unexplained symptoms deserve a proper diagnosis, not just a quick fix.
