The modern dental patient journey increasingly begins long before a patient contacts a dental practice. Patients can search for providers, compare practices, read reviews, examine websites and digital profiles, and form impressions of credibility and trust before ever speaking to a receptionist.

Research supports the growing importance of online information and reputation in healthcare decision-making. Systematic reviews have found that online health information influences subsequent health decisions, while online patient reviews increasingly play a role in healthcare-provider choice and correlate particularly with measures of patient experience.

The Invisible Practice is therefore designed to challenge a traditional assumption in private dentistry:

Being clinically excellent, established and even financially successful does not necessarily mean a practice is capturing its full market opportunity.

The presentation introduces dentists to the “invisible patient journey” — the decisions prospective patients make before contacting a practice and the patients a practice may be losing without ever knowing that they considered it.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS FOR DENTAL ASSISTING EXAMINATION

Please note that applications for the last examination of this year will be on 24 November 2026. Please take note of the following procedure to be followed.

1. Application must be submitted via online Portal https://hpcsaonline.custhelp.com/

2. Payment of the examination fees will only be done when your application has been approved. (No more prepayment, we will invoice you to pay once we have approved your application.

3. Applications submitted via email will not be attended to.

The closing date for submission of applications is 20 October 2026.
The examination venue is the HPCSA offices in Pretoria. There is no other venue.
