🦷 X-rays are one of the most important diagnostic tools in dentistry. They help us see what is happening beneath the surface and allow problems to be identified early, before they become more complex to treat.

They also help us assess bone health, monitor wisdom teeth, detect hidden decay and plan treatment safely and accurately.

🦷 Brushing and flossing help control plaque, but they cannot remove hardened tartar that forms near the gumline. Tartar creates rough surfaces that trap bacteria and can lead to inflammation, bleeding gums and gradual bone loss if it is left untreated.

Professional scaling removes these deposits from areas a toothbrush cannot reach, and polishing leaves the enamel smooth and easier to keep clean. Regular cleanings help prevent gum disease and support long term oral health.

If you would like to arrange a check up, you can call 021 551 5168.

🦷 A small cavity may look harmless, but it grows steadily as bacteria break down the enamel. Once the decay reaches the dentin and then the pulp, symptoms such as sensitivity, pain or swelling begin. By that stage the infection is often advanced and may require root canal treatment or removal of the tooth.

Treating a small cavity early is quick and simple, which is why regular check ups make such a difference.

You can call 021 551 5168 if you would like to book a check up.

🦷 Swallowing a dental crown is usually not harmful. In most cases it passes naturally through the digestive system within a few days. The real concern is inhalation, which needs urgent medical care. If you swallowed the crown, contact your dentist as soon as possible to protect the exposed tooth. Sometimes the crown can be reused if it is found intact and sterilised.

Gold, porcelain and zirconia crowns are inert, but imaging may be advised if the crown does not pass or if you develop symptoms such as chest or abdominal pain.

If you would like to book a check up, call 021 551 5168.

🦷 If bad breath continues even after brushing and flossing, it may be linked to gum disease. Plaque and tartar beneath the gumline create conditions where bacteria release strong sulphur compounds. Early gum disease can be painless, with only subtle signs such as bleeding or swelling.

A professional cleaning and periodontal check up helps address the cause rather than masking the symptoms.

If you would like to book a check up, you can call 021 551 5168.
