Dear Patients and Friends
After today's visit to my ophthalmologist, Dr York, I have some very unfortunate and final news to share with you. But I also have GOOD NEWS...!
Dr York has concluded that there is no hope for better vision in my right eye. There is too much damage on the retina, due to the previous longstanding inflammation.
This also means that I will no longer be able to be your dentist at any time in the future ðŸ˜.
The GOOD NEWS is that I am going to continue my practice with Botox® and facial filler injections that I have been doing since 2012. These procedures I can still do with great confidence and tenacity.
These injections are wonderful for those of you that want some help around your laugh lines, or to make you look less upset than you are😂 or for those who feel that they look tired or if you want to replace lost volume in your face or lips, etc.
I do not have any pain in the eye and I can live a pretty normal life apart from not being able to practice dentistry. I used to work with a microscope with most procedures especially to see more detail in, in between and around the teeth and with just having the vision in one eye, this is no longer possible.
It has been a 2 year roller coaster ride of all kinds of feelings and changes to get used to, whilst not being able to be of service in the wonderful world of dentistry
I will wait until there is a build up of pressure and pain in the eye or if the aesthetic appearance of my eye due to the loss of volume affects my self esteem before we will go ahead to do the final and last procedure which is to modify the eye in the socket so that the wear of a prosthesis can be facilitated.
Life goes on, time waits for nobody and I learned once again that none of us are irreplaceable and yet is it so important to stay positive.
Please contact me on 0725296569 (preferably via what's app) so that we can schedule a consultation if you need facial fillers or Botox®
Much love
Dr Isabeau Joubert
