What is a frenectomy? ๐Ÿฆท

Thereโ€™s a small band of tissue under your tongue and between your lips and gums called a frenum.

When it restricts tongue movement or contributes to certain dental problems, a frenectomy may be recommended to remove the restrictive tissue.

It may help with:
โ€ข Restricted tongue movement caused by a tongue-tie.
โ€ข Certain gaps between the upper front teeth, as part of an orthodontic treatment plan.

Not every prominent frenum needs treatment. An assessment helps determine whether itโ€™s causing a problem and which approach is suitable.
