What is a root canal?
An RCT is a done to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth.
It is performed when the pulp which is composed of nerves and blood vessels in the tooth, becomes infected or damaged.
The procedure involves removing the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleaning and disinfecting it and then filling and re-sealing it. This ultimately relieves the intense pain the patient was experiencing.
