Smile transformation with active aligners 😁💫

What are active aligners ?

Active Aligners work on basic orthodontic principles. They are used for the correction of crowded teeth, gaps or rotation, while achieving the desired results in an organized and planned fashion. These customized trays are "invisible" and move the tooth in the desired direction. This is achieved through wearing a series of active aligners , each for 22 hours a day, 1 to 2 weeks at a time (one stage) , which move the teeth per stage until their optimal alignment has been reached.

Treatment length?

Average treatment time is between 6 and 8 months but varies based on the extent of malocclusion.

History: Patient had a fall as a child resulting in the tooth turning dark in colour due to trauma to the dental pulp which resulted in inadequate blood supply to the tooth. 

Treatment: Root canal and thereafter internal bleaching to lighten the tooth

Why ?

Her parents brought her in for a general check up in the absence of pain. This allows the child to get acquainted with the dentist as well as being in the dental environment. Therefore, when the child comes in requiring dental treatment, they will be familiarized and will be willing to co-operate as their first dental experience was not traumatic.

Kindly let me introduce myself, I am Dr Kerisha Melissa Naidoo and I am a graduate of the esteemed University of the Western Cape. I am a compassionate, friendly and a dedicated Dental Surgeon who strives to deliver the best possible treatment to all of my patients in the hope of changing the commonly heard phrase “I hate Dentists” 👀
