We offer all aspects of general dentistry to maintain and promote good oral health including cleanings, white fillings, extractions, wisdom tooth removal, mouthguards, dentures, laser tooth whitening, crown and bridgework, dental implants and orthodontics (fixed metal, ceramic, lingual, removable and invisible braces). We are open 8am -8pm Mon to Fri and 8am-1pm on Saturdays and offer 24 hour after hours emergency service.

🦷 A definite highlight on the dental calendar ✨

Three of our KDC dentists, Drs Farah Seedat, Amanda Shih & Muhammad Bux, recently attended the Ivodent Oral Care Roadshow in Cape Town, and as always, it was an evening well spent 🤩

It’s always fantastic listening to Prof Riaan Mulder — his wealth of knowledge and clinical insight is something not only our clinicians benefit from, but ultimately our patients too. And a huge thank you to Dirna Grobbelaar for a great lecture filled with practical tips & tricks we can actually put to use!

One of the things we love about Ivodent events is that we never leave empty-handed (and we don’t just mean the generous goodie bags 🤭!). There are always little nuggets of information, clinical tips or new techniques that we can take straight back into the practice and put to good use.

Thank you Ivodent for another great evening and for continuing to invest in dental education 😀

🎬 An evening of learning, storytelling & a different perspective on birth.

Dr Farah Seedat and orofacial myofunctional therapist Naseema Osman (Naseema Osman //Airway & Myofunctional Therapist) recently attended an exclusive Cape Town preview of “Allowed to Birth: The Journey of a Global Midwife” (Allowed to birth), hosted by Curaprox South Africa South Africa.

The documentary follows the remarkable journey of global midwife Jacinta Lagos, exploring birth across different cultures and settings, and opening up important conversations around pregnancy, birth, maternal care and the experiences that shape the very beginning of a child’s life.

For Dr Farah and Naseema, whose work so often centres around early oral function, feeding, breathing and childhood development, it was particularly interesting to step outside of their own disciplines and hear these conversations from a completely different perspective.

There is so much value in learning beyond the boundaries of our own professions — especially when it comes to understanding a child’s health and development as a whole. 🤍

Thank you to Curaprox South Africa for the invitation and for creating spaces where healthcare professionals from different disciplines can learn, connect and broaden the conversation. 🫶🏼

🦷✨ Little teeth deserve beautiful restorations too!

This before & (immediately) after shows the restoration of decayed front baby teeth using composite “strip crowns” — a technique that allows us to rebuild the natural shape, colour and appearance of the tooth using tooth-coloured filling material.

When decay on a front baby tooth becomes more extensive — particularly when it involves multiple surfaces of the tooth — a simple filling may no longer be the most suitable or predictable option.

In these cases, we may recommend covering and rebuilding the tooth with either a composite strip crown or a paediatric zirconia crown, depending on the individual tooth and your child’s needs.

💭 So, what exactly is a strip crown? 🦷

A strip crown uses a clear, tooth-shaped form that is filled with tooth-coloured composite and carefully placed over the prepared tooth. Once the material has set, the clear form is removed, leaving behind the new tooth-shaped restoration. ✨

The best option isn’t the same for every child or every tooth. Your dentist will assess the extent of the decay, the remaining tooth structure and your child’s individual circumstances before recommending the most appropriate treatment.

And remember — they may be “just baby teeth”, but saving them whenever possible is incredibly important. Baby teeth play an essential role in eating, speech, maintaining space for the permanent teeth, and supporting normal growth and development.

For front teeth in particular, aesthetics matter too. Restoring a child’s smile can have an important impact on their confidence, self-esteem and psychosocial wellbeing — especially as they become more aware of their appearance and interactions with others.

Our goal is always to preserve these important teeth whenever possible while restoring health, function and a natural-looking little smile. 🤍

Three of our dentists recently attended the Dental Photography Masterclass: Elevating Clinical Communication, Case Documentation and Digital Dentistry, presented by internationally recognised dental photographer and educator Coşkun Kasapoğlu at the Ivodent Ivoclar Partner Academy in Cape Town

The hands-on course explored the role of professional dental photography in modern clinical practice — from accurate case documentation and treatment planning to improving communication with patients, laboratories and other members of the dental team

Clinical photography has become such a valuable part of modern dentistry. Being able to capture clear, consistent images allows us to document the finer details, plan more carefully, communicate more effectively and show our patients exactly what we see
