Meet Mr Julian Fielies, the vibes manager!

Julian has been with the DiCeram team for about two years now and he's the light of the lab! From digital design to getting his hands dirty with machining and manual work. Julian is a real all-rounder and a pleasure to be around.

Thank you Julian, for your consistent work, your positive attitude and for reminding us that a good playlist can make even the busiest day a little better. You keep the music going, the energy up and occasionally treat us to a live performance—whether we asked for one or not!

Introducing the Case Intelligence Project.

Every restoration has a story beyond the final result. In this series, our technicians and ceramicists share the clinical challenges, technical considerations and problem-solving that happen behind the scenes to achieve predictable outcomes.

Jess kicks off the series by looking at failed occlusal alignment and the impact an inaccurate bite registration can have on the final restoration.

Creating natural anterior restorations is about far more than matching the shade. Light transmission, surface texture, translucency, value and morphology all need to work together for the restoration to blend seamlessly with the surrounding dentition.

It's a process that combines digital precision with careful ceramic craftsmanship, ensuring every restoration is as functional as it is aesthetic.

Successful implant surgery starts long before the tooth removal.

At the DiCeram Planning Centre, implant stents are designed using CBCT data, intraoral scans and prosthetically driven planning to accurately translate the restorative plan into the surgical field.

By planning implant position before surgery, guided stents help improve precision, communication and predictability, giving clinicians greater confidence from placement through to the final restoration.

Every restoration begins as a digital design. Milling is where that design becomes reality.

Using CAD/CAM technology, restorations are milled with exceptional precision, accurately reproducing the margins, contacts and anatomy established during the digital planning phase.

The technology provides the accuracy, but it's the planning and technician expertise behind it that ensure a restoration is both functional and predictable.

Meet Monique Van Der Merwe.

Monique plays a unique role at DiCeram, bridging the gap between digital design and ceramic artistry. Working across case planning, workflow, design and ceramics, she helps ensure that every restoration transitions seamlessly from the digital environment to the final clinical outcome.

She has a particular passion for complex multidisciplinary cases, where precision, collaboration and careful planning make all the difference. We're incredibly grateful to have Monique as part of the DiCeram team and look forward to seeing her continue to grow within our profession.

Unlike natural teeth, implants do not have a periodontal ligament. That means every implant-supported crown must be carefully designed to manage load, support soft tissue, and allow long-term maintenance.

From emergence profile and tissue support to occlusal design and screw-access positioning, every detail matters.

Digital workflows allow us to visualise and control these variables before production begins, but it’s the collaboration between clinician and technician that ultimately determines the outcome.
