🦷 Let’s talk about abrasion and erosion!
Have you ever noticed small grooves, dark spots or worn areas near your gumline? These changes aren’t always caused by tooth decay.
Over time, our teeth can gradually lose their protective outer structure, sometimes without us even noticing.
🪥 Abrasion happens when teeth are worn down by repeated friction, often from brushing too aggressively or using a hard toothbrush.
🍋 Erosion occurs when acids gradually dissolve tooth enamel. Frequent consumption of fizzy drinks, acidic foods and even acid reflux can contribute to this.
⚠️ Why does it matter?
As tooth structure wears away, you may experience increased sensitivity, discolouration, deeper grooves and weakening of the affected teeth.
💚 Can it be treated?
Absolutely! Depending on the severity, treatment may involve adjusting brushing habits, managing acid exposure, applying protective products or restoring damaged areas with tooth coloured fillings.
The before and after photographs show how appropriate dental treatment can improve the appearance of affected teeth while helping to protect vulnerable areas.
Remember, prevention and early treatment can make a big difference to your smile!
