Following on the previous implant post. Once again, a single front tooth. Super challenging
In 2008 I saw a patient for a second opinion on a recently restored implant on a front tooth at another Dentist. She was unhappy with the appearance, size, shape, dark gum tissue, uneven gum line between the two front teeth, color etc.
In summary: I removed the crown (and cement left behind), changed the metal abutment to a Zirconia abutment and temporary crown to allow me to manipulate the gum tissue profile to match the adjacent front tooth. Then finalized the implant with a new full ceramic crown.
This was done in 2008. Our Patient then moved away and was in Australia for some time. Saw her again briefly in 2021 and then again yesterday.
Nothing was done to any front teeth over the last 18 yrs.
In 18yrs nothing has changed, perfect stability of the gum tissue and bone levels. Yes, there is a need for maintenance on the adjacent fillings but the implant, crown and soft tissue a super success. Not survival but long term success.
