Since itā€™s the last day of National Childrenā€™s Health Month letā€™s talk little teeth and oral health for kids.

Did you know 1 in 4 children has a cavity by the time they enter kindergarten?

Here are some simple ways to help keep those little teeth healthy:
šŸ¦· brush 2x/day for 2 mins
šŸ¦· floss any teeth that touch each other
šŸ¦· visit your dental professionals 2x/year
šŸ¦· eat a balanced diet and limit sugary drinks & snacks

We are saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our dear and amazing patient of 26 years. Dick Dawson will be remembered for his bear hugs, wonderful sense of humor, love of animals and hours of dedication and volunteer work at YAPS. He ran marathons on a regular basis, reminded us to use our WaterPiks, and kept us updated on all the latest technicalities about the Mini Cooper industry! Our deepest condolences go out to his beautiful wife Donna and his family. He has left a void in our hearts that will never be filled!

Ever wonder what weā€™re looking for during your intra-oral and extra-oral exam at appointments? Some may even call them ā€œmini massagesā€. It is an oral cancer screening.

According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, approximately 54,000 people in the U.S. will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer this year, 132 new people in the U.S. will be newly diagnosed with oral cancer every day, and one person every hour of the day will die from it!

Let that sink in. Here at the office we want to raise awareness to oral cancer and the importance of screenings.

Oral cancer screenings should be done at each visit or at least yearly at dental visits. It only takes a few minutes to do an oral cancer screening, and those few minutes can save a life.
