My wife is a fan of home makeover shows.
She loves to see "Out with the old, and In with the new".

Like our loving homes, dental work can show the signs of wear and tear. That's when updated designs, materials and shades can drastically change how the world sees us.

This patient had Porcelain Fused to Metal crowns placed to restore teeth darkened by tetracycline and root canals. After almost 30 years, gingival margins had receded exposing root surfaces, created dark margins. Opaque porcelain crowns have worn and have glazing that had become dull and unreflective.

The Makeover: New Zirconium crowns, with more natural contours and translucency. Improved marginal aesthetics and a lighter shade that compliments the patients complexion.

Just in time for Christmas.
This patient had been suffering with chipped and broken front teeth for many years that caused her to hide her smile. Composite fillings on her four front teeth had been repaired and rebonded multiple times and patient was frustrated with the endless cycle of maintenance.

We recommended crowns on her four front teeth for strength and improved cosmetics. Zirconium was the material of choice for its strength and durability, as well as its exceptional cosmetic properties. The patient, dentist were very pleased with the result, and patient is smiling again.

Dr Josh Lachine - Porcelain Veneer Case teeth #6-11

Patient had been thru Invisilign as an adult and achieved a nice result in improving alignment of her teeth and fixing a difficult bite.

However the patient was still unhappy with the appearance of her teeth. Primarily due to the wear on the front teeth after years of attrition andto her irregular occlusion and midline asymmetry

Once Invisilign was complete and her occlusion was more ideal, we decided to improve the overall cosmetics by placing Porcelain Veneers on the upper six anterior teeth. The patient chose to do tray bleaching prior to placing the veneers, and the finished veneers reflect a brighter smile with ideal cosmetics...and a happy patient! Dentistry by Dr Josh Lachine

Porcelain Crown case. Teeth #8 and 9.

Patient presented to the office, unhappy with Porcelain Fused to Metal crowns on his two upper front teeth.

The existing crowns were overly opaque, much too wide and with a shape that was much too convex in contour, as well as displaying a characteristic "black line" at the gum-line which is common on older porcelain fused to metal crowns.

Old crowns were removed, the teeth were reprepared for a more natural gingival contour, and Porcelain Fused to Zirconium (non-metal) crowns were placed.

The final restorations have color, shape, opacity and characterization that blends seamlessly with his natural teeth, and allows the patient to smile confidently without the concern of unnatural looking front teeth.

Dr. Josh Lachine - Porcelain Veneer Case #6-11
This patient presented with concerns about the shape of her front teeth, unhappiness with spacing, and mild fluorosis that has left her teeth opaque with spotty discolorations.

After reviewing several options we settled on porcelain veneers on teeth #6-11. Veneering allowed us to do several thing to improve her cosmetics and function.

We succeeded in:
1) Closing open spaces between her laterals and canines.
2) Achieve a consistent color, texture and translucency of all her maxillary anterior teeth.
3) Slightly increase the length of the maxillary anteriors.
4) Creating softer, more feminine incisal edges.
5) With selective gingival recontouring we could achieve a more natural length-to-width ratio of her teeth, and ideal gingival contours.

All-in-all. A Great result

An update to our patients, friends, and followers:

We hope that this notice finds you and your families in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the past few months and we are all looking forward to getting back to our normal routines as soon as reasonably possible.

As the Governor and Virginia Dental Association recently announced, dental practices are approved to resume routine dental care as they see fit as of Friday, May 1. With that said, it is with great pleasure that we announce that as of Monday, May 4, our office will officially reopen for routine dental care!

While we are anxious to get back to work, please know that we are doing so in the most responsible way possible and following all of the recommended guidelines that are being handed down by the ADA. The safety of our patients, staff, and families has been and remains our number one priority.

You may notice a few changes when it is time for your next appointment. Please know that these changes have been put in place to help protect all of our patients and staff. Examples of these changes include (but are not limited to) a list of screening questions (asked more than once), having your temperature taken and being asked to use hand sanitizer upon your arrival, and efforts to reduce number of people in the waiting area. As the world has changed over the past few months, we have had to react accordingly to keep everyone in our office as safe as possible.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you and all our patients safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call (757) 867-8765 for our Yorktown office or (757) 229-5570 for our Williamsburg office.

Thank you for your patience throughout our closure. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends.

Sincerely,

Drs. Boxx, Blaney, Lachine, Wendell & Team
