IN LOVING MEMORY OF DR. STEVE GANT
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Steve Gant, beloved founder of Yorktown Family Dentistry, proud Air Force veteran, devoted caregiver, and cherished member of the Yorktown community. Before dedicating his life to the smiles of Yorktown, Dr. Gant proudly served his country as a dentist in the United States Air Force. He carried the values of service, integrity, and compassion throughout his distinguished career.
In 1979, Dr. Gant opened the doors of Yorktown Family Dentistry with a simple mission: to provide exceptional dental care while treating every patient like family. Over the decades he fulfilled that promise thousands of times over, caring for generations of families and helping countless patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.
A visit to see Dr. Gant was unlike any other. Patients were often greeted by the sound of him singing as he worked, filling the hallways with music and putting the most anxious patient at ease. A devoted Jimmy Buffet fan, he brought a little island spirit into every day, reminding those around him that it’s 5 o’clock somewhere. His famous popcorn machine became a favorite tradition, giving children and adults alike one more reason to smile when they visited the office.
Dr. Gant was more than an exceptional dentist–he was a pillar of the Yorktown community. He built lasting relationships rooted in kindness, honesty, mutual respect, and genuine care. All of Delaware County knew they were not just appointments on a schedule, they were neighbors, friends, and part of the extended family he created through decades of service.
Yorktown didn’t just lose their hometown dentist, it lost a trusted friend. Though he will be deeply missed, his influence and legacy will continue to live on in every smile he helped create. Dr. Steve Gant’s life was defined by service–to his country, to his patients, and to the Yorktown community at large. Dr. Gant and Jimmy Buffet are now sailing away to Margaritaville to have that Cheeseburger in Paradise. Rest well, Dr. Gant, we’ll continue to provide the highest standard of dental care that started with you.
