It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Family Health Center of Worcester's Board member and friend, Ruth Rodriguez-Fay, on August 18, 2026.

Ruth dedicated her life to advocating for equity, justice, and opportunity for all. A social worker, educator, activist, and community leader, she was a tireless champion for Worcester's Latino community, public education, civil and voting rights, and social justice. Throughout her decades of service, she built bridges, empowered families, and inspired generations through her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others.

Ruth joined the Family Health Center of Worcester Board of Directors in 2021, bringing the same passion, wisdom, and dedication that defined her life's work. She cared deeply about our mission and the communities we serve, and her voice, leadership, and friendship will be profoundly missed.

Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the stronger, more equitable community she helped create. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her daughters, Kelly Marie and Joselina, and to all who loved her.

In May 2026, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) recognized the Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW) with an upgrade from Silver to Gold Advocacy Center of Excellence (ACE) status. Gold status represents the highest level of achievement within the ACE program, signaling measurable engagement and impact.

The ACE designation honors community health centers that demonstrate sustained leadership and a strong organizational commitment to advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels. ACE health centers actively engage staff, board members, and community partners in advancing policies that support equitable, high-quality care.

It was a pleasure to welcome Congressman Jim McGovern to Family Health Center of Worcester during National Health Center Week. We appreciated the opportunity to discuss the vital role community health centers play in expanding access to care and improving health outcomes in our communities.
