If you’ve cried over this really cried, the kind that sneaks up on you, you’re not being dramatic. You’re grieving a role you loved with your whole self. That’s not weakness. That’s what it looks like to have loved that hard.
Here’s what I want you to know: the quiet support you’re doing now? It’s not less important. It’s not a demotion. It’s the same love, just wearing a different coat. You’re still holding them, just with looser hands, so they can walk on their own. And that has been so hard for me. It happened in a blink of an eye.
You didn’t lose your person. You’re just watching them become one.
And that sweet little voice? It’s still in there. It’s just learning how to ask for help in a bigger voice now.
Hang in there, mama. You’re doing exactly what love looks like at this stage.
