A Difficult Update from the Only Smiles Dental Team

Dear Patients,

We are writing to you with a very heavy heart and a lot of uncertainty. Dr. Daya Bale was part of a trekking group a few weeks ago in Nepal when a catastrophic landslide caused by a glacial collapse at the border of China and Nepal happened. Unfortunately thousands were killed and thousands are still missing presumed not survived as it's been 15 days since the event now. Search and recovery of bodies and hopefully lives if at all continues but Dr. Bale is still missing. Her family is devastated and more so her husband and 16 yr old son. Hopes of her returning are slim to none as she was right at the center where it hit worst.

Unfortunately we as a practice are trying to handle things the best we can till we have a better plan. Her family has temporarily handed over the operations of Only Smiles Dental to her sister in law Dr. Janhavi Rane, a practicing dentist in Plainsboro, NJ. Her immediate task is to find a temporary dentist to cover the office while we decide for the future. We know a lot of you have pending treatment and we will be in touch with you over the next week with a better picture of what is happening. In the meantime if you have any dental emergency please call us as always and we will direct you on an individual basis.

The Power of Sleep... Did You Know?

Getting 7–9 hours of sleep each night doesn't just help you feel rested, it also supports a healthier smile!

While you sleep, your body works to reduce inflammation, strengthen your immune system, and repair tissues. That includes your gums! Consistently getting enough sleep may help lower your risk of gum disease and support better healing.

Poor sleep, on the other hand, can contribute to:
• Increased inflammation in the gums
• Dry mouth (which raises the risk of cavities and bad breath)

To get the most benefit from fluoride toothpaste or fluoride mouthwash, spit, don't rinse.

After brushing or using a fluoride rinse:

✅ Spit out the excess.
❌ Don't rinse your mouth with water afterward.

Leaving a thin layer of fluoride on your teeth gives it more time to strengthen enamel and help prevent cavities. For the best results, avoid eating or drinking for about 30 minutes after using fluoride products.
