Winterset is getting ready to celebrate our hometown hero, John Wayne, during the 2026 John Wayne Birthday Celebration on May 22–23!

The weekend includes a Friday night Opening Reception at the John Wayne Birthplace & Museum with special guests Jennifer Wayne and Aissa Wayne, followed by a movie screening at The Iowa Theater.

On Saturday, enjoy the Breakfast Fly-In at the Winterset Municipal Airport (8:00–11:00 AM), the John Wayne 5K Walk/Run hosted by the Winterset Rotary Club (start time 9:00 AM, registration at 7:45 AM), and wrap up the celebration with the Saturday evening Banquet and Auction honoring the Duke’s birthday.

While you are in town, tour the John Wayne Birthplace & Museum, explore the Winterset square, and take time to visit the covered bridges of Madison County.

If you have a dental accident, quick action can help save your tooth.

If a tooth is chipped, cracked, or knocked out, gently rinse it, avoid touching the root, and try to place it back in the socket or store it in milk or saliva until you can be seen.

Apply a cold compress for swelling and call Winterset Dental right away so we can guide you on next steps and get you in as soon as possible.

Preventing tooth loss also starts with good dental management, brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between your teeth daily, and keeping up with regular exams and cleanings so small issues do not turn into bigger problems.

If you have gum bleeding, ongoing sensitivity, or a tooth that feels loose, do not wait, early treatment can make all the difference.
