Got to sit in the bleachers for the first time! One of my best friends in the ortho world, Dr. Brandon Owen, was visiting Chicago and we got to catch a Cubs game together with our kids. Super fun time!

Transformation Tuesday!

Our friend came to us with the following issues.

🔹Deep overbite
🔹Lower teeth were too far back (increased overjet)
🔹Moderate upper and lower crowding

We used braces and rubber bands to fix her bite and improve her smile. It only took us 11 visits and 18 months.

This weekend our office received the Joseph S. Kearney, Sr., Heart of Gold from Boys Hope Girls Hope. Boys Hope Girls Hope is a charity based in Evanston who’s mission is to nurture and guide motivated young people in need to become well-educated, career-ready men and women for others. Their scholars attend St. A’s, Regina Dominican High School and Loyola Academy. Many of the scholars are the first members of their families to attend and graduate college. Since 2019 we’ve been providing free orthodontics to any of the scholars that need treatment. There’s research that shows orthodontics can decrease bullying, help when you’re applying for a job and help when you’re dating. We figured it was the least we could do to help such an amazing organization. We are super honored to receive this award and had a fun time getting all gussied up for the party. It’s nice to get out of scrubs every now and then.

Our friend came in with the following problems.

🔹100% overbite
🔹Moderate crowding upper and lower
🔹Chipped front tooth

We used KLOwen custom braces to correct his bite. We leveled the gum height of his front two teeth so when his dentist restores that chip it will look identical to its neighbor. I love how custom braces help us dial in smile esthetics and allow for great control over smile gradation (the smooth transition from the front teeth to the back teeth).

I got to hang out with my two favorite type of nerds last week. Disney nerds and tooth nerds. I’m in the process of joining an orthodontic study club that has some of the biggest names in orthodontics. This year’s meeting was in Southern California. My wife, Misty, is a pretty big Disney fan so we went to Disneyland a few days before the meeting. It was awesome getting to see where all the Disney magic started and to learn about teeth in the same week.
