Composite fillings match the color and physical appearance of natural teeth closely. It is a preferred option for most dentists when restoring teeth in an aesthetic area. Although they can be used on molars or other chewing surfaces, silver fillings are recommended if larger areas need filling, or those between the teeth (interproximal decay). However, while both composite and amalgam fillings have their uses-to restore decayed teeth-, neither one should be exclusively used.

When a child has a decayed or damaged tooth, preserving that tooth can make a real difference in their comfort, function, and future dental development. Dental crowns are often recommended when the tooth structure is too compromised for a filling to work effectively. They’re especially common for baby molars that need to last until permanent teeth come in. Pediatric crowns are strong, safe, and designed for growing smiles.
