Direct composite bonding is a conservative, highly aesthetic single-visit method to restore a peg-shaped lateral incisor to a natural tooth form.


Planning: Digital scan, then create a diagnostic wax-up to design the ideal tooth size and shape.

Index Creation: Form a silicone or putty index from the wax-up to guide the palatal shell and incisal length.

Preparation: Clean the tooth and etch the enamel with 37% phosphoric acid, then apply a dental bonding agent.
Stratification (Layering): Place a thin palatal enamel layer using the index, followed by dentin shades (like A2) to build internal mamelons and body volume.
Characterization: Add subtle tints or opaque/translucent effects to match adjacent teeth.Finishing and Polishing: Contour line angles with fine diamond burs and flexible discs, then polish with cups, points, or a felt wheel for a glossy finish.
