Big Win for Oregon Dentistry

After years of advocacy, ODA’s dental insurance reform package passed the Oregon Legislature as part of HB 4040. This milestone aligns dental insurance with medical standards supporting both patients and dental practices.

This success reflects the power of organized dentistry. When members speak, lawmakers listen.

Wellness Wednesday 💜

Work in dentistry is demanding, and boundaries help make it sustainable. Even one small boundary can reduce burnout and support a healthier workday.
Reminder: the ADA Dental Well‑Being Index is for the whole dental team.

🦷 Helping Shape the Future of Dentistry in Oregon

Behind every regulation and policy that impacts dental practices and patient care, there should be a strong voice representing the realities of dentistry. That's where the Oregon Dental Association's Regulatory Affairs Council (RAC) comes in.

RAC serves as a critical link between Oregon dentists, regulatory agencies, legislators, and policymakers. The council monitors, analyzes, and helps shape regulatory policies affecting the dental profession, ensuring that decisions are informed by real-world clinical experience and support the needs of both providers and patients.

RAC members:

✔️ Develop ODA's legislative agenda and policy priorities
✔️ Review and develop strategies related to Oregon Board of Dentistry, Oregon Health Authority, and other state agency matters
✔️ Advise ODA leadership on state and federal regulatory policy issues
✔️ Help identify dentists to serve in advisory roles with affiliated organizations
✔️ Support member education and communication when regulatory changes occur
✔️ Bring member concerns and ideas forward for discussion
✔️ Serve as ambassadors for organized dentistry and member engagement

By participating in RAC, dentists have a direct role in shaping the policies, regulations, and legislative priorities that impact oral health care and the practice of dentistry throughout Oregon.

📣 Interested in making a difference?

RAC is seeking dentists who want to help review, develop, and influence policies that affect patient care and the profession. Members gain firsthand insight into regulatory and legislative decision-making while ensuring the perspective of practicing dentists is heard.

To learn more about joining RAC, contact Brett Hamilton, Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs, at [email protected].

Together, we can help shape the future of dentistry in Oregon.

🦷 Your Voice Matters. Your PAC Matters.

When decisions about oral health care are being made, Oregon dentists deserve a seat at the table.

The Dentists of Oregon Political Action Committee (DOPAC) is the nonpartisan political action committee associated with the Oregon Dental Association. DOPAC supports candidates who understand the importance of quality oral health care and the needs of both dental professionals and the patients they serve.

Through campaign contributions and relationship-building efforts, DOPAC helps ensure that dentistry has a strong and respected voice in Oregon politics.

✔️ Nonpartisan advocacy
✔️ Supports candidates who value oral health care
✔️ One of Oregon's largest health care PACs
✔️ Connects dentists with state legislators and policymakers

Want to make an even greater impact? ODA members have opportunities to attend campaign and legislative events, helping build meaningful relationships with elected officials and future leaders.

Together, we can help shape the future of oral health care in Oregon.

📢 Interested in getting involved? Contact ODA staff to learn about upcoming opportunities to participate in DOPAC activities and events.

With more than 60% support, this decision reflects a commitment to proven, cost‑effective public health policy that improves oral health and expands access to care.
In communities where access to dental care can be limited, fluoridation remains one of the most impactful tools we have to support healthier smiles especially for children and vulnerable populations.
Thank you to everyone who helped educate, advocate, and support evidence based policy!
