There are a lot of appointments I have to go to…
But a haircut? That’s one I actually look forward to 😄

Fresh cut = fresh mindset.
Big shoutout to for always delivering 🔥

Saltwater therapy hits different 🌊

35 mph winds.
50–54° water.
1.5 hours.
3 waves.

Not every session is perfect… but showing up still matters.

Same thing in dentistry—consistency over perfection. Day in, day out, doing the work, even when it’s not easy.

(And yeah… the groms were absolutely stealing waves 😂)

Dentists aren’t always the extroverts people think we are.
Sometimes we just learn how to be… temporarily.

6 hours of “on” mode later 😅
Anyone else relate?

Where contour meets confidence. ✨

This case highlights how critical contour, profile, and shape are to dental esthetics. This patient was self-conscious about her smile due to older restorations on her two front teeth.

Function will always come before esthetics. Restorations that stand the test of time have my respect, regardless of appearance. But the question is—can we achieve both function and esthetics? The answer is yes.

As seen in the profile views, the previous restorations were over-contoured. While we’ll discuss the effects of tooth shape and contour on light reflection and deflection in more detail another time, over-contoured restorations reflect light in the wrong areas, negatively impacting the overall esthetic result.

In the new restorations, we corrected contour, line angle position, and overall shape. These adjustments alone allow precise control over how light interacts with the teeth. Correcting the value of the restorations was equally important and was addressed here as well.

Restorations Delivered:
• #7 and #10 porcelain veneers
• #8 and #9 porcelain crowns

Both the patient and I were very pleased with the outcome—an emotion that was shared through tears and hugs.

When good dentistry stands the test of time. ⏳

This patient presented with a desire to aesthetically update dentistry that was completed over 40 years ago. This case is a reminder that well-executed dentistry—even decades ago—can remain functionally sound and withstand the test of time.

While materials and techniques have evolved significantly, making the esthetic improvements clear, our primary intention is for this work to remain just as durable and functional for decades to come.

Restorations Delivered:
• #2–7 Zirconia crowns
• #8–10 Zirconia implant bridge
• #11–15 Zirconia crowns

Expertly fabricated by Naoki Hayashi, whose precision and attention to detail continue to elevate the final outcome.

Implant provisionals shape the tissue, not just the smile. 🧬

This patient came to our office for replacement of her two front teeth ( #8 and #9). Both teeth had been previously treated with root canal therapy and had been successful for over 20 years, but were ultimately diagnosed with root fractures.

We elected to remove the teeth one at a time to put the biological healing pathway in our favor. This process took over a year and a half, but the biological result was worth it.

The purpose of this post is to show how implant provisionalization is critical in tissue formation and long-term biological stability. These two provisionals were made by the master technician Naoki Hayashi . Implant provisionals are not just a temporary placeholder for the final restorations — they are the BLUEPRINT for success, both biologically and esthetically.

Esthetic enhancement of the upper front six teeth 🦷✨

This patient presented with concerns about the esthetics of her upper front six teeth. Her primary goals were to address mild misalignment across the anterior segment and improve the appearance of an existing all-ceramic crown on #9.

We elected to treat the case with minimal-prep/prepless porcelain veneers on #6, 7, 8, 10, and 11, along with replacement of the crown on #9. Limiting treatment to only six teeth in the esthetic zone can be challenging—especially when attempting to improve canine rotation without orthodontics—but careful planning allowed us to achieve a balanced, natural result.

The “after” photo shown here was taken on the day of insertion, immediately following bonding of the veneers. At this stage, the restorations are newly placed and the surrounding tissues are still adapting, making this a true same-day result.

Esthetic success is ultimately subjective and depends on both the patient’s expectations and the clinician’s goals. In this case, we were both very pleased with the outcome.

Hi, I’m Dr. Naki 👋

I’ve decided to start sharing a bit more of the clinical side of what I do here.

This account will focus on dentistry itself — cases, techniques, technology, and the why behind the work.

Our Naki Dental Studio page will continue to highlight community events, office updates, and practice news.

This space is for education, insight, and real-world dentistry.

If you’re curious about how modern dentistry works, what goes into treatment decisions, or what’s actually happening behind the scenes in the operatory, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for following along.
