Our girl Katlyn is getting ready for her next big adventure… baby #3! 👶🏼💙

After all the years she’s poured into our Live Oak family as an assistant , treatment coordinator, financial coordinator and then into an incredible Office Manager for our Leland location, she’s stepping away for a little while to soak up those newborn snuggles, sibling chaos, and all the sweet moments that come with adding another little love to the family. 🤍

We’ll miss having her around the office every day, but we’re SO excited for her and her growing family! And thankfully, this isn’t goodbye — Katlyn will be back with us part-time!!

Enjoy this precious season, Katlyn. We can’t wait to meet Baby #3! 🥰

Just a little dental humor. If you’ve ever said one of these… you’re definitely not alone! ❤️

We hear these comments every day, and while they always make us smile, they’re also great opportunities to clear up common dental myths. Our job isn’t to judge—it’s to educate, answer your questions, and help you make the best decisions for your smile with accurate information.

Take a look through these “red flag” statements and let us know: which one have you heard before… or maybe even said yourself? 😉

FACT: Cavities often don’t hurt until they have become larger. Catching them early usually means a smaller, simpler, and less expensive treatment.

FACT: Dental insurance is designed to help with the cost of care - not to cover everything. Every an has different benefits, limitations, deductibles, and annual maximums. You should not rely on insurance to dictate your treatment!

Modern digital dental x-rays use a very low dose of radiation - comparable to a day or two of natural background radiation. They are an important tool for finding problems that can’t be seen during a visual exam, helping prevent bigger issues later.

FACT: Waiting months for treatment can allow small problems to become bigger (and more expensive). Taking care of it now helps you enjoy your vacation without a dental emergency!

FACT: Healthy gums DO NOT BLEED during brushing or flossing! Bleeding is often one of the first signs of gum disease and should not be ignored.

Hey Sunset Beach! If you’ve been around awhile then I am sure you know her but those of yall that haven’t had the pleasure - MEET DAPHNE!!!!

Daphne has been a RDH 🦷 since 1985!!! 🤩 Her goal is to make her patients feel comfortable and at ease as she helps take care of their dental needs (and she does!!) She isnfrom Raleigh and moved to the Sunset Beach area in 2013! 🏖️ She with husband, Don, have a blended family with a daughter, two sons and four grandchildren. She enjoys beach music and all the outdoor concerts during the summer!! Long walks and watching sunrises and sunsets are a true joy ☀️ She loves her beach time, but Christmas is her favorite time of the yea! Daphne is an absolute joy and we were so lucky to get her in the acquisition from Dr. Rakos! She has been a true asset to the team, and we are so thankful!

Please join us in giving the warmest welcome to our newest provider, Dr. Malit! 🦷💙

Dr. Malit believes dentistry is a beautiful blend of science, artistry, and compassionate patient care — and we already know our patients are going to love her!

Her journey in dentistry began long before dental school. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from NC State and her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from UNC Chapel Hill, she spent six years working as a dental hygienist. That hands-on experience shaped her gentle, patient-centered approach and passion for preventive care before she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Midwestern University in Arizona.

Outside the office, Dr. Malit loves coastal living and enjoys reading, dancing, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband, baby girl, and two dogs. ☀️🌊🐾

Most importantly, Dr. Malit understands that dental visits can sometimes feel overwhelming, and she strives to make every patient feel comfortable, supported, and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors.

We are SO excited for the Leland community to meet her and are thrilled to officially welcome Dr. Malit to the Live Oak Dental family! 🎉
