*UPDATE FOR REOPENING*

Dear Patients of Caparelli and Mellis, DDS,

With our reopening date of June 1st, we are currently in the process of rescheduling patients. You may have already received a phone call from us; if not, you are welcome to call or email our office for available appointments. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. Due to the number of patients we care for, you may be offered fewer options for available appointment times. We really appreciate everyone’s patience as we try our best to get everyone back on track with routine care and needed treatment. Please be advised that depending on your appointment times for routine dental cleanings, you may be offered the option to see a different hygienist or dentist than you normally see. Also, cleanings may be a little longer so we can follow all needed guidelines set by the ADA, CDC and OSHA for recommended infection control. We appreciate your cooperation as we do our best to accommodate everyone. Please keep in mind that these changes in our schedule are only temporary as we transition to our new “normal”.

There are a few new changes we’d like for you to be aware of when you make an appointment so you feel as comfortable as possible when you are here.
For example:

*Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
*You will receive an electronic health screening questionnaire along with other required forms that will be sent out prior to your appointment. These must be completed in order to treat you.
*We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter our office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
*When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car and call our office upon arrival. We will give you further instructions at that time.
*There will be a $20 protective equipment fee that we are collecting from all patients when they arrive. This is a fee set forth by the American Dental Association so dental offices are able to afford the required protective gear and equipment needed to protect patients and staff during treatment and provide the safest care possible.
*All patients will be required to bring their own face mask or face covering to wear while in our office. We have very limited supplies at this time, so we are unable to provide one for you.
*One of our staff members will be taking your temperature with a non-contact thermometer before you are seen.
*The temperature in our office is required to be set at a lower than normal temperature, so be sure to bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to get cold.
*If you have any symptoms within two weeks of your appointment that are related to the virus, please call our office and we will be happy to reschedule you for a later date.
*Please keep in mind that immunocompromised patients and those with preexisting health conditions are at an increased risk for contracting the virus. If you feel uncomfortable moving forward at this time with any appointments, we would be happy to reschedule you at a later date.

If for any other reason you need to contact us or have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email us! Our phone number is: 910-392-2920, and our email address is: [email protected].

Again, we thank you for your cooperation, patience and understanding during this time of transition. We value your trust and loyalty, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our practice.

Sincerely,

Dr. Caparelli, Dr. Mellis, and Team

05/18/2020

Dear Patients of Caparelli & Mellis, DDS,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a great deal over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff.
For example:
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
• When scheduling, our office will ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive for your appointment.
• For the time being, we will not be using our reception area. We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment, call our office upon arrival and wait in your car or outside until we notify you that we are ready for you.
• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter and exit the office. You will also find some in other areas of the office for you to use as needed.
• Unless an additional proclamation or restriction is issued by Governor Roy Cooper, our office should be able to resume full scope of care on June 1st, 2020.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 910 392 2920 or email us at [email protected]
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty, and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,
Dr. Caparelli, Dr. Mellis and Team

03/27/2020

Due to the guidelines set forth by the ADA, NC Dental Board, and the Federal, State and Local Government entities, we feel it is in the best interest of our patients, our staff, and the community to postpone all elective dental treatment for our patients UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. We will continue to provide emergency care for our patients of record.

Once we have determined our reopen date, we will send out a notification. If you had an appointment scheduled that you were unable to come to due to our closure, please call our office to reschedule once we reopen.

We know this is the best way that we can help our community during this COVID-19 event as we make attempts to help "flatten the curve" and prevent the spread of this virus. Please remember that during this time it is even more important that you ramp up your oral health care by brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, and even adding a fluoride rinse to your daily routine.

Thank you and take care!!

Drs. Caparelli & Mellis and Team

We feel that it is our responsibility as health care providers to try to do our part in limiting the risk of exposure to our patients, staff and our community.
