🦷 Tuesday Dental Tip: Your Temporary Crown Came Off?! 😱

Don’t panic! If your temporary crown comes off, there are a few things you can do to help protect your tooth until you can get to the dentist.

🦷 1. Find your temporary crown.
Rinse it gently and make sure it’s clean.

🦷 2. Remove any old temporary cement.
Make sure any leftover cement is removed from inside the crown and around your tooth so the crown can fit back into place properly.

🦷 3. Reapply the crown ASAP!
You want to keep the space maintained and prevent your teeth from shifting. You can pick up temporary dental cement from your local retailer and follow the directions on the package.

🦷 4. Call your dentist! 📞
Even if you’re able to temporarily secure the crown, you should still contact your dental office so they can check the crown and make sure everything is fitting properly.

🚨 And remember: NEVER use super glue or household glue!

Those numbers are part of your periodontal charting, and they’re an important part of keeping track of your gum health!

During perio charting, your hygienist measures the space between your gums and teeth. These measurements help us look for signs of gum inflammation, infection, bone loss, and periodontal disease.

📊 Why does it matter?
Your numbers give us a snapshot of your gum health and allow us to monitor changes over time. Even small changes can help us catch potential problems early—before they become bigger (and more expensive!) problems.

So the next time you hear your hygienist calling out numbers like “2, 2, 3…” 📣, just know they’re not speaking a secret dental language! 😂
