Dr. Courtney is a proud member of the Mississippi Dental Association is is so very proud to share the news that that Governor Tate Reeves has signed HB 1117 into law. This new law will require dental insurance companies to publicly disclose how much of the premium money they collect is actually spent on patient dental care versus administration, etc. The reports must be filed annually with the Mississippi Insurance Commissioner and made available to the public. This means that if your insurance carrier collects $100 in premiums, they will now be required to report how much of that $100 actually goes toward paying for dental treatment.
We are proud to share that Governor Tate Reeves signed HB 1117 into law, a landmark piece of legislation that brings greater transparency and fairness to dental benefit plans across our state. This achievement was made possible through the dedication and advocacy of Mississippi Dental Association members and leaders who worked tirelessly on behalf of both dentists and patients. We are thankful for our partners the Mississippi Dental Society and Mississippi Dental Hygienists' Association who worked alongside us as a united dental community to pass this legislation that will benefit all Mississippians and Mississippi businesses.
