Today we honor June 19, 1865, the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black culture. It’s a time to reflect on our nation’s history, recognize progress, and continue working toward justice and equity for all. ✊🏾
