Are you looking to invest in a water flosser (oral irrigator)?

Both water flossers and regular dental floss clean tight spaces to remove plaque around your teeth, helping to reduce bleeding and prevent gum disease.

If you use standard dental floss and don’t have issues with bleeding gums or other problems, it’s not necessary to change. However, regular flossing can be difficult with braces or orthodontal work, and it might make sense to buy a water flosser for hard-to-reach areas. Ask your dentist for recommendations at your next appointment.

It’s not uncommon for people to experience anxiety when they visit the dentist after a long hiatus. Many patients have plaque buildup without regular cleanings, but this is perfectly normal and nothing to be embarrassed about. Keep in mind that the cleaning may take longer than normal. We will also do a thorough examination to make sure no dental concerns (like cavities or gum disease) developed since your last cleaning.
