☀️🔥 National Heat Awareness Day 🔥☀️
Oklahoma heat can become dangerous quickly, especially during the summer months. Staying cool, hydrated, and protected from the sun can help prevent heat-related illness.
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🧴 Apply sunscreen before heading outside and reapply often
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
🧢 Take breaks in the shade when possible
🍉 Choose hydrating foods like fruits and vegetables
🚿 Cool down with air conditioning, fans, or cool showers
Watch for signs of heat-related illness:
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Heavy sweating
• Muscle cramps
• Fatigue or weakness
• Confusion
• Trouble breathing
Older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and those with chronic health conditions may be at higher risk during extreme heat.
Certain medications and chronic health conditions may increase your risk for heat illness. If you have questions about how heat may affect your medications or health conditions, contact ECO Health to schedule an appointment and discuss ways to stay safe this summer.
🚨 If someone experiences severe symptoms such as confusion, fainting, chest pain, trouble breathing, or signs of heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
ECO Health encourages everyone to stay safe, stay hydrated, and prioritize their health this summer. 💚
