If you’re clenching at night, you’re not alone—and it’s more common than many people realize. A nightguard can help protect your teeth and reduce the damage that clenching and grinding can cause, but it works best when it’s custom-fitted for your bite and monitored over time. At Dixon Orthodontics, we explain what nightguards can and can’t do, so you feel confident about the plan for long-term comfort and healthier teeth. 🍎Apple vs. Applesauce: The Braces Breakdown

When you're craving something sweet and fruity, choosing the right form of an apple can save your brackets from an accidental pop-off!

❌ NOT THAT: Biting straight into a Whole, Crisp Apple

Why: Chomping down with your front teeth puts intense pressure right on your brackets, which is one of the easiest ways to snap hardware off mid-bite.

✅ EAT THIS: Enjoying Applesauce (or Thinly Sliced Apples!)

Why: Smooth applesauce requires zero biting force and won't risk your wires. (Pro-tip: If you're craving the crunch of a fresh apple, just slice it into thin, bite-sized pieces and chew them carefully with your back teeth!)
