A big warm welcome is in order!!! Dr. Ashley Wilmot joined team oceans this month! She is an amazing pediatric dentist and we are SO happy to have her aboard.
Let’s get to know her. She grew up on Long Island! She went to dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. She did her pediatric specialty training at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Ashley is new to New Jersey and splits her time between New Jersey and New York with her Toy Malti-Poo, Louis. She spends her free time with her friends and family and enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, pilates, concerts, and trying new restaurants.
Both of Dr. Ashley’s parents are teachers so she always knew working with children would be in her future. She spent her teen and young adult years working as a camp counselor, children’s swim instructor and life guard before starting dental school. She participated in a dental outreach program to Peru where Dr. Ashley treated underprivileged children and families which confirmed her love of dentistry and desire to work with children. In her fourth year of dental school, she had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in rural Virginia where she worked in a public health clinic and was able to provide dental treatment to school age children at their elementary school satellite clinic.
Dr. Ashley’s philosophy as a pediatric dentist is centered around kindness, patience and partnership. She understands that the dental office can be an unfamiliar place so she works to meet each child at their comfort level- celebrating small victories and building trust step-by-step. She believes in partnering closely with parents and caregivers to support healthy habits at home and to ensure that every family feels respected, informed and confident in their child’s care. Above all, she aims to make dental visits fun, positive experiences that encourage lifelong oral health and happy, confident smiles.
