A couple of our team members volunteered this past weekend at IMOM (Iowa mission of Mercy) down at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The Iowa Mission of Mercy is a large scale, two-day community dental clinic where dental professionals and general volunteers donate their time to provide free oral health care to individuals who face barriers to receiving dental care. A full-service field dental clinic with 100 dental operatories is set up and patients are treated on a first-come/first-served basis.🦷🦷

We are a growing, three-doctor dental practice looking for a dental assistant to join our team with an active and in-good-standing registration with the Iowa Dental Board.

A successful candidate should be comfortable performing chairside assisting for a wide range of dental procedures with an emphasis on infection control and working in a team environment. They should also be proficient working within an electronic health record, inputting a treatment plan, making appointments, and documenting completed procedures.

The American Dental Association is warning about a new online trend involving a product called the “Jawzrsize” that advertises being able to “redefine your jawline”. The anatomic basis for this device is lacking and, worse, it could cause or worsen clenching, grinding, or other temporomandibular disorders and/or move teeth to the point of needing orthodontic intervention. 🦷

☃We recommend you avoid this stocking stuffer this year!
