Cox was born in Bainbridge, GA, and grew up near the small community of Climax, GA. During childhood and high school, Dr. Mike was an active member of Boy Scout troop 383 of Whigham, GA, where he obtained the highest rank, Eagle Scout, at the age of 16. After obtaining the Eagle rank, Dr. Mike remained involved in his home troop where he served as a mentor to the younger scouts. During these years

, Dr. Mike played tennis for Bainbridge High School and was an active member of the FFA and 4-H club shotgun team. He was also an honor graduate of Bainbridge High School. During his elementary and high school years, Dr. Mike was a member of Whigham United Methodist Church. After high school Dr. Mike attended Valdosta State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. At VSU Dr. Mike was a founding member of the first pre-dental club. Dr. Cox then attended dental school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA where he became involved in the American Student Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association student chapter. While attending dental school, Dr. Mike had the privilege to work with a resident in the esthetic department. At this time he was able to build a foundation for esthetic dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation, while working under the direction of Dr. Jason Minton and Dr. Gerard J. Chiche, Director of the Center for Esthetics at MCG. Dr. Mike finished dental school in May 2014 and shortly thereafter married Christina Mayberry, who is also a dentist. Since graduating from dental school, Dr. Mike has joined the Georgia Dental Association and the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry, organizations that strive toward further educating dentists with updates in their field and also in bringing dental services to areas that have shortages in dental care. After associating in a successful group practice in Albany, GA, Dr. Mike was presented with the opportunity to purchase the flourishing practice of Dr. John Avant in the thriving town of Columbus, GA, and eagerly accepted. Mike and Tina Cox also purchased the West Point office in November 2016. He, his wife, and their two puppies, Kozmo and Laney, are excited to make Columbus their home. Cox was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, with her loving parents, Bill and Linda Mayberry, and older sister, Maria. Growing up she was active in many sports, including basketball, golf, and cheerleading. She graduated from Wheeler High School in 2005 with honors, and went on to attend the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. Dr. Tina graduated Cum Laude in 2009 with a B.S in Biology from West Georgia, and worked in a dental practice in Marietta for a year before attending Dental School at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA in the fall of 2010. During dental school she was involved in the American Student Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association student chapter. Dr. Tina obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in May 2014, and shortly thereafter married Dr. Mike Cox, a dental school classmate. Following dental school, Dr. Tina worked in a large group dental practice in Albany, Georgia, rotating between three offices and gaining valuable patient and staff experience in the process. In March 2015, Dr. Tina participated in the Salisbury Mission of Mercy, volunteering alongside her uncle, Dr. David Mayberry, providing free dental services to the underprivileged members of Salisbury, NC. She continues to volunteer her time and dental services to organizations dedicated to helping the poverty stricken. Dr. Tina is a member of the Georgia Dental Association and the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry, organizations that offer continuing education courses to help dentists stay current with the continually changing field of dentistry.
