Did you know that you could overproduce saliva? Ptyalism, as the condition is known, is commonly seen in pregnant women. Saliva is beneficial to our oral health as it contains enzymes, calcium, and antibacterial agents that help us fight off tooth decay and gum disease. While we don’t know the exact cause of it, it's suspected to be due to hormonal changes. The good news is that although it may be irritating, it isn’t harmful! This is a myth! Despite the treatment’s name, root canals don’t remove roots from the tooth. When a root canal treatment is performed, the tooth pulp from the inside of the tooth is removed.
