Did you know that not all tooth discoloration is caused by staining or poor oral hygiene? 🦷
Sometimes, the cause begins much earlier—while the teeth are still developing. Enamel hypoplasia occurs when enamel doesn’t develop properly and can sometimes be related to genetics or trauma to a developing tooth. It can leave areas of the teeth looking discolored, thin, pitted, or irregular—and it’s not necessarily a reflection of how well someone brushes or cares for their teeth.
That was the case for our patient pictured below. While their smile was already great, cosmetic dentistry allowed us to address the areas affected by enamel hypoplasia while keeping the result natural and true to them. ✨
