In this video, we’re walking you through how to safely and correctly turn the key so your child’s orthodontic treatment stays on track.

A few important reminders:

✔️ Make sure each turn is fully completed as instructed.

🦷 Are you cleaning your retainer correctly?

You spent months, maybe even years, perfecting your smile. Don’t let improper retainer care compromise your results!

Here’s how to properly clean your removable retainer:

✅ Rinse after every use. Use cool or lukewarm water to remove saliva and debris.

✅ Clean it daily. Gently brush with a soft toothbrush and mild, unscented dish soap.

✅ Deep clean weekly. Use an orthodontist-approved retainer cleaning solution according to its instructions.

✅ Keep your case clean. Allow your retainer to air-dry and store it in a clean, ventilated case when not in use.

🚫 What to avoid:

* Hot water, which can warp plastic retainers
* Abrasive toothpaste that can scratch the surface
* Bleach or harsh cleaning chemicals

Many parents don’t realize that their child’s jaw development, palate shape, and bite can play a role in how they breathe.

Here’s something you may not know: The roof of your mouth is also the floor of your nose.

When a child’s upper jaw is too narrow, it can affect the space available in the nasal cavity.

🚩 Signs worth paying attention to:
• Chronic mouth breathing
• Snoring during sleep
• Sleeping with their mouth open
• Crowded teeth
• A narrow palate
• A crossbite

In some growing children, early orthodontic treatment, including palatal expansion, may help widen the upper jaw and improve nasal airflow.

But here’s what’s important: Orthodontic treatment is not a replacement for medically necessary tonsil removal or treatment of sleep apnea.
