A February 4 study in mice showed that common oral bacteria don't stay local. They migrate and actively contribute to tumor development elsewhere in the body. Dental health is whole-body health.

Kissing a baby may seem harmless, but adult saliva can carry cavity-causing bacteria that easily transfer into an infant’s mouth. Babies are not born with these bacteria—they acquire them from close contact.

Early exposure can increase the risk of early childhood tooth decay, even before the first tooth appears.

This doesn’t mean don’t show love—just avoid mouth kisses.
