Meet the man behind the smile. 👋
Dr. Andrew Sharman grew up in Buffalo, NY — and endured 26 winters there before finally making his way south. After earning his D.D.S. from the University of Buffalo in 2012, he completed a general dentistry residency at Fort Benning and went on to serve as an active-duty dentist in the U.S. Army, even earning his Jump Wings along the way.
After leaving the military, Dr. Sharman worked at the Asheville VA Hospital — continuing to serve the veterans he deeply respects. Today, he brings that same commitment to every patient at Balsam Dental, with a specialty in full-mouth rehabilitation cases and a reputation for making even the most nervous patients feel at ease.
A few fun facts: he once survived a fall into the Grand Canyon, contributed to the Mars Rover Program with NASA, and — most importantly — met his wife and co-doctor, Dr. Serene Nagia, in the Army. (He did steal her lunch first. She still brings it up.) 😄
When he's not in the office, you'll find him fly fishing or exploring the mountains of Western North Carolina with their dog Lucy and cat Lemon. 🎣🐾
