Airway Wednesdays highlights an important connection many people do not realize, obstructive sleep apnea and Type 2 diabetes often occur together, and each condition can make the other more difficult to manage.
Sleep apnea can reduce oxygen levels and disrupt healthy sleep patterns, which may affect insulin resistance, blood sugar control, energy levels, and overall wellness. At the same time, diabetes can increase inflammation and other health risks linked to sleep-disordered breathing.
Warning signs of sleep apnea may include loud snoring, daytime fatigue, morning headaches, poor concentration, and waking unrefreshed.
If you have Type 2 diabetes and struggle with sleep, it may be time to explore whether sleep apnea is part of the picture. Better sleep can support better health.
