Myth: If You Sleep 8 Hours, You Can’t Be “Sleep Deprived.” (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Fact: Quality matters more than the clock. If your airway is unstable, your brain is constantly "Micro-waking" to keep you breathing, preventing you from reaching deep REM sleep. Contact Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders to discover the difference between being in bed and actually sleeping.

Why Is Sleep Apnea Frequently Misdiagnosed as Depression in Women? (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Because women often report symptoms like morning headaches and chronic fatigue - rather than loud snoring - doctors may initially look toward mental health. An underlying airway obstruction is frequently the "Missing link" behind these symptoms. Tired of treating symptoms without finding the cause? Reach out to Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders.

Relax Your Jaw and Restore Your Sleep (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

If you carry stress in your face, try gently rubbing your cheeks (the masseter muscles) in a circular motion for two minutes before bed. This encourages the jaw to drop into a relaxed position. Relax your jaw, restore your sleep. Reach out to the experts at Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders.

How Do Hormonal Changes (like Menopause) Affect Airway Stability? (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Estrogen and progesterone help maintain the muscle tone of your upper airway. As these levels shift during menopause, the throat muscles can become more relaxed, significantly increasing the risk of airway collapse. Protect your sleep through every stage of life. Watch Your Posture: “Tech Neck” Strains Your Jaw. (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Leaning forward to look at your phone shifts your center of gravity and pulls on the delicate muscles of your neck and jaw, which can exacerbate TMJ pain and nighttime airway collapse. Connect with Koala® Center For Sleep & TMJ Disorders for tips on maintaining a healthy airway.

Why Is “Mouth Breathing” During the Day a Concern for Sleep? (Koala Center for Sleep Disorders)

Mouth breathing causes the tongue to fall back further into the throat, significantly increasing the risk of snoring and airway collapse. Nasal breathing is vital for a stable, quiet airway.
