Today was CGM day!

Our team is spending the next 2 weeks wearing continuous glucose monitors to learn more about how food, sleep, stress, and everyday choices affect blood sugar.

Some of us were excited. Some were nervous. All of us were curious.

At our practice, we believe that oral health is connected to overall health, and we’re always looking for ways to learn, grow, and better serve our patients.

Follow along as we share what we discover!

I didn’t even realize mouth breathing was something to pay attention to.

It wasn’t something I was trained to look for in a meaningful way. It was just… a habit. Something kids grow out of.

Until I started seeing the same kids over and over again.

The ones who:
💤weren’t sleeping well
🍎had a hard time focusing
😫seemed more emotional than expected
🦷already had signs of crowding

And the more I paid attention, the more I noticed one small thing in common—
their mouths were often slightly open at rest.

At some point, it stopped feeling random and I dug deeper.

Because breathing affects more than we think. It plays a role in how kids sleep, how their brains recover at night, and *even how their faces develop over time.*

Now, I always step back and look at three things:
* how a child sleeps
* how they’re functioning during the day
* what I’m seeing physically
When those patterns line up, it’s usually not just a phase.

If you’ve ever felt like something is a little “off” with your child, even if you can’t explain it—it’s worth paying attention to and finding someone who can help dig deeper 🤍

Looking early helps us support development—while growth is still happening.

❤️ Heart Health Month Reminder 🦷

Most people don’t realize this…
Your gums can influence your arteries.

Chronic gum infection creates inflammation in the body.
That inflammation doesn’t stay in your mouth — it travels.

Research from the American Heart Association shows a connection between periodontal disease and atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in arteries).

Healthy gums = less inflammation.
Less inflammation = better whole-body health.

Your dental visits are about more than teeth.
They’re part of your overall health strategy, which is why we offer salivary testing. It helps give us a piece of the puzzle to help you understand what’s happening in your body. ❤️

This week we visited a local school to teach 5 year olds how to:
🪥 Brush thoroughly (especially those back teeth!)
🍎 Choose tooth-friendly foods👃 Breathe through their noses

We connected oral health and airway health in a way our early learners can actually understand.

Healthy habits start young.

🦷💓 High Blood Pressure & Your Oral Health — More Connected Than You Think

Did you know high blood pressure doesn’t just affect your heart — it can also affect your gums and teeth?

Research shows a strong connection between hypertension and gum disease. Chronic inflammation can impact the health of your blood vessels and the tissues that support your teeth. Over time, this can lead to gum recession, bone loss, and even tooth loss if left untreated.

Some blood pressure medications may also cause dry mouth or gum changes, increasing the risk for cavities and gum problems.

✨ What you can do:
✔️ Brush and floss daily
✔️ Keep up with regular dental visits
✔️ Work with your care team — dental and medical — for total-body health 🤝

Healthy mouth, healthier heart 💪🫀

🦷 It’s not just about straight teeth—it’s about space to breathe👃

This before & after shows a crossbite caused by a narrow upper jaw. When the jaw is too small, there isn’t enough room for teeth or the tongue.

A narrow arch can contribute to:
• Crowding and bite issues
• Restricted airway space
• Mouth breathing and poor sleep quality

By expanding the upper jaw, we’re not just improving the bite—we’re creating room for proper tongue posture, healthier breathing, and better sleep.

✨ Early evaluation can make a lifelong difference ✨

If you or your child snores, mouth breathes, or struggles with crowded teeth, this may be worth exploring. Our team is here to help evaluate space, bite, and airway health to determine the right next steps.
