Dear Lush Family Dental Family,
As we reflect on how far our practice has come since opening our doors in 2019, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible support this community has shown our family and our team.
What started as a vision shared by two dentists — Dr. Blake and Dr. Mike — has grown into something far beyond what we could have imagined. Because of your trust and loyalty, we have had the privilege of expanding our team over the years to include Dr. Kate and Dr. Katie, allowing us to continue caring for more families throughout Waukee and the surrounding communities.
At Lush Family Dental, our goal has always been simple: provide exceptional dentistry while making patients feel genuinely known, valued, and cared for. As our community continues to grow, we are committed to growing alongside it so we can continue delivering the level of care and accessibility our patients deserve.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce that beginning June 1, 2026, we will be welcoming Dr. Dillon Schloerb to the Lush Family Dental team.
Dr. Schloerb is a former dental school classmate and longtime friend of Dr. Blake and Dr. Kate, and we could not be more confident in the person and provider he is. We have intentionally taken our time in adding another doctor because maintaining the culture and quality of care at our office has always mattered more to us than simply growing quickly. We truly believe Dr. Schloerb is an exceptional fit for our team, our patients, and our community.
Originally from Clive, Iowa, Dr. Schloerb is excited to return home to central Iowa and serve the Des Moines and Waukee communities. He graduated with distinction from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
During dental school, Dr. Schloerb earned the Dean’s Academic Recognition Award all four years, was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, and received the American Academy of Prosthodontics Student of Merit Award. Beyond his impressive academic accomplishments, what stood out most to us has always been the kind of person and provider he is. He genuinely cares about people, values relationships, and takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to patient care. We have complete confidence in both his clinical abilities and the way he cares for patients, and we know our patients will appreciate the same kindness, integrity, and attention to detail that he brings to every interaction.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Schloerb enjoys cycling, running, golfing, and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
This addition also comes during an especially exciting season for our family, as Dr. Kate and Dr. Blake are expecting their third child any day now. Dr. Kate will be taking some well-deserved time (12 weeks) away from clinical dentistry after the baby arrives, and adding Dr. Schloerb allows us to continue providing the same level of access, continuity, and care our patients have come to expect — both during that transition and well into the future.
We are incredibly thankful for the trust you place in us and for the role you have played in the growth of Lush Family Dental. It is never lost on us that the success of our practice is entirely because of the amazing people and families in this community.
