❤️💜 Agape Health Services is proud to support the Sickle Cell Prayer Walk & American Red Cross Blood Drive! 💜❤️

Join the Washington-Plymouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. this Saturday, September 5, as our community comes together to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

The Prayer Walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Agape Health Services, located at 120 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. in Washington. The American Red Cross Blood Drive will follow from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Agape will be there supporting the event with a community resource table! Stop by to learn more about the healthcare services and programs available through Agape, meet members of our team, and pick up some Agape giveaways while you're there.
We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with organizations that bring our community together around awareness, health, and hope. ❤️💜

Positive reinforcement can be a powerful way to encourage the behaviors you want to see more often. When your child makes a good choice, puts in effort, shows kindness, or tries something difficult, take a moment to notice it!

Praise doesn’t have to be complicated. A few encouraging words, a high five, extra playtime, or a small privilege can help children feel proud of their choices and motivate them to keep trying. 💚

🎓✨ MAKING HISTORY AT AGAPE! ✨🎓

We are incredibly proud to recognize Shakeena Tuten, the first Agape Health Services team member to successfully complete the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program!

Shakeena has made history within our organization by being the first to complete this rigorous professional development program. To honor this tremendous accomplishment, her colleagues surprised her with a special graduation ceremony and celebration! 💐🎉

Through these programs, Shakeena has strengthened her clinical medical assisting skills while also gaining specialized knowledge to support integrated behavioral health services, including behavioral health screening, care coordination, trauma-informed communication, and whole-person care.

Shakeena is a humble spirit, a dedicated professional, and truly a joy to work with. Her commitment to learning and serving our patients reflects the very best of Agape. We could not be prouder of her!

We are also excited to announce that three additional Agape colleagues will participate in the next cohort, continuing to strengthen our workforce and expand access to high-quality, integrated care throughout the rural and underserved communities we serve.

Our pediatric team put their skills to the test with a good old-fashioned glove race — three rounds, three different winners… so basically, we settled nothing. 🤷‍♀️

What we did prove? Our team knows how to have fun, work together, and bring plenty of personality to the care they provide! 💚

🎥 Meet Dr. Mayo!

We’re excited to introduce Dr. Mayo, Pediatrician at Agape Health Services’ Williamston location!

Dr. Mayo is passionate about partnering with families and their communities to help children thrive and live healthy lives. His special interests include ADHD, lifestyle medicine, and early childhood development, and he is also certified in Medical Spanish, allowing him to better serve Spanish-speaking patients and families.

Originally from Virginia, Dr. Mayo completed his undergraduate education at UNC before attending Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completing his pediatric residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. Now, he’s excited to be back in the region serving families across Eastern North Carolina!

🎒 What a wonderful Back-to-School Bash!

Agape Health Services was honored to join families in Robersonville for an evening focused on supporting the children in the communities we serve. 💚

We loved meeting so many families, sharing resources, handing out goodies, and seeing all the excitement as students prepare for another school year!

Thank you to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and everyone who helped make this event such a success. We’re grateful for every opportunity to show up, connect with our community, and help our children start the school year **happy, healthy, and ready to learn!
