Can someone please remind me again how the mouth is not part of the body, nor our healthcare? A dental infection can only kill you if left untreated... so I guess not that serious.

Thanks for listening to my PSA.

This affects ALL of us- doctors and patients. Please consider signing!!! Take action - ask your Representative to support H.R. 7931 to help ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability in dental coverage for patients and providers.

*ERISA Loophole*

Take action - ask your Representative to support H.R. 7931 to help ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability in dental coverage for patients and providers.
H.R. 7931, the Improving Dental Administration (IDA) Act, would help ensure that state dental insurance laws protecting patients and providers apply consistently to self-funded dental coverage, and not just fully insured plans. Right now, carriers and administrators often argue that ERISA preemption allows them to avoid state laws on issues like prompt payment, noncovered services, virtual credit cards, network leasing, assignment of benefits and prior authorization continuity.

This two-tiered system, where different patients receiving the same care may be subject to different protections based solely on plan design, creates confusion, delay, and expense for both doctors and patients, and often interferes with the doctor-patient relationship. Congress can fix this now by passing H.R. 7931 and finally close the ERISA loophole carriers often use to justify ignoring state dental insurance reform laws.

Take action now and ask your Representative to support H.R. 7931. Raising your voice will help ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability in dental coverage for patients and providers alike.

ADA advocacy action alert: Ask congress to close the ERISA loophole. Take action now and ask your representative to support H.R. 7931.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.

For general dentists, the asking is happening on Capitol Hill—because we represent the and the 200,000+ licensed dentists across the U.S. What we advocate for shapes not just our profession, but the care our patients receive every day.

This year, we’re pushing forward three key bills:

• Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act — Gives dental residents the ability to defer interest on federal student loans during training, easing early-career financial pressure.
📊 A February 2025 Journal of Dental Education study found ~40% of dental students experience food insecurity—driven by high tuition, limited time, and financial strain.

• Improving Dental Administration Act — Cuts through administrative and insurance red tape so providers can spend less time on paperwork and more time with patients.

• Action for Dental Health Act — Expands access to care through prevention programs, workforce development, community-based initiatives, and charitable services.

Proud to stand alongside a passionate, relentless group of leaders advocating for our patients, our colleagues, and the future of dentistry. 🦷✨

haiku for you

i'm so damn tired
dentistry's so exhausting
now home to pass out

So many years I lived this. Loving my job but having no balance. Putting so much into my start up that I forgot what fun was. What self care was. What other things mattered in my life.

My exhaustion and anger and resentment and fear. Fear of slowing down, of getting left behind, of not being the best I could be.

But what I didn't realize is that all my hard had already paid off. With my skills, my relationships, with my reputation. I could take a deep breath and properly live. Enjoy my family and friends and sunshine and putting my feet up. Taking time to BREATHE.

It took a long time to see, but I finally saw myself and my accomplishments for what they were/are.

Hope you see YOURS, too. You owe it to yourself to live.

We've come a long way... baby.

When I was a young adult, my mom's friend told me that women would always be there for me. In times that are tough, in times that are good, to support me, to care for me to protect and advocate for me, when I couldn't do it for myself, and that I would do the same for other women. I didn't disagree with her, but I never really knew what that meant until the last few years. My female friends have stepped up in so many ways that I can't even describe the selflessness and depth to which they've cared for me. They've encouraged me, they've pushed me, they've cradled me, they've loved me. Women that were never my competition, but just showed up when I needed them most, and showed me how important I was, even in time when I doubted myself. They SAW me. I hope I've been as good for them as they've been for me, and hope to continue paying forward all the love and encouragement and support I've been shown. So grateful to call all the Dr. ladies in these pics who I've met throughout my dental journey and am blessed to call sisters and friends.

With that, it's no coincidence to me that National Dentists Day and International Women's Day fell on the same weekend. So grateful for the strong, talented, beautiful and graceful confidence that the females in my life exude. Love you, all ladies and especially my lady Docs!!!!! Can't forget the special mention of the original Dr. Mom in my life - MY amazing Mom ❤️🦷🙏🏽
