A brighter smile in just one visit ✨

This transformation was done with Zoom Teeth Whitening, one of the fastest and most effective ways to whiten your teeth safely in-office.

So, what is Zoom whitening?
It’s an in-office treatment that uses a powerful whitening gel activated by a specialized LED light to break up deep stains and discoloration. In about an hour, you can see a noticeably whiter, brighter smile.

✨Noticeably whiter teeth in a single visit
✨Removes stains from coffee, tea, wine, and smoking
✨Safe, controlled treatment with less sensitivity than over-the-counter options
✨Even, consistent results you just can’t get from strips
✨Long-lasting

If your teeth are looking dull, yellow, or just not as bright as they used to be, this is one of the easiest ways to refresh your entire smile—fast.

Ready for your own before & after? Let’s make it happen! 😁🦷

Noticing some staining around your Invisalign attachments? This is a common concern during Invisalign treatment, and the good news is that it’s temporary and very easy to fix.

Invisalign attachments are small, tooth-colored bumps that are placed on certain teeth to help your aligners move teeth more predictably and efficiently. Because they create a slightly textured surface, they can attract staining from certain foods and drinks throughout treatment.

The most important thing to remember is that these attachments are not permanent. Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, the attachments are gently removed. At that visit, your teeth are professionally cleaned and polished to remove any surface staining. If you’re looking for an extra boost, teeth whitening can be done after treatment. In many cases, your Invisalign retainers can even be used as whitening trays to help brighten your final result and give you a clean, beautiful smile.

Tips to prevent staining during Invisalign treatment:
✔ Brush your teeth before putting your trays back in
✔ Be mindful of staining foods and drinks like coffee, red wine, curry, and tomato sauce
✔ Rinse your mouth or brush after consuming stain-causing foods or beverages
✔ Keep up with regular cleanings during treatment

A little prevention goes a long way. And even if some staining does occur, it’s temporary and easily corrected at the end of treatment. Your final smile will be healthy, bright, and absolutely worth it.

Before ➡️ After

This patient hadn’t been to the dentist in decades and came to us with a broken bridge, missing teeth, severely worn-down teeth, and uneven gums. The missing and worn-down teeth had caused his bite to collapse.

Dr. Rebecca Salzman rebuilt the foundation of his smile, restoring his bite and tooth structure with custom crowns and bridges. This was the biggest step in bringing his smile back.

At District Dental Surgery, Dr. Lucy Johnson focused on gum health. She performed a combination of crown lengthening to make his shorter teeth more proportionate and a connective tissue graft to fill the large collapsed area of gum tissue where his bridge was.

The result is a healthier bite, improved function, and a smile that looks completely transformed.

And we’re not done yet- the next step is dental implants to replace the remaining missing teeth and complete his long-term restoration.

If you’re starting Invisalign, you might notice small, tooth-colored bumps placed on some of your teeth. These are called Invisalign attachments, and they play an important role in helping your treatment work.

Attachments help your aligners snap securely into place, so the trays stay properly positioned while you wear them. This allows the aligners to apply the right amount of pressure to move your teeth.

They also make tooth movement much more precise and predictable. Each attachment is carefully designed and placed to achieve the desired movement of that specific tooth. For example, if a tooth needs to rotate or move in a certain direction, the shape and angle of the attachment help guide that movement. There’s actually a lot of engineering that goes into Invisalign treatment.

The good news is that attachments are temporary. Once you finish your Invisalign treatment, we simply polish them off your teeth. After that, you’re left with beautifully aligned teeth in a healthier, more stable position, and no one will ever know the attachments were there.

If you’re considering Invisalign or are currently going through treatment and have questions, we’re always happy to help.

This patient needed to replace a missing tooth with a dental implant. The implant was placed by District Dental Surgery, and once the area healed, Dr. Salzman at Washington Metro Dental completed the restoration with a custom crown.

The permanent crown blends naturally with the surrounding teeth in shape, color, and contour. You would never know this tooth is a crown. Just a healthy, confident smile that looks completely like their own.

Implants are designed to look, feel, and function just like real teeth. When surgical precision and restorative artistry come together, the outcome can be both healthy and beautifully natural.

If you’re missing a tooth or have been told you may need an implant, a coordinated approach like this can make all the difference.

Sometimes patients have crowding, which means there simply isn’t enough room for the teeth to move into proper alignment. In these situations, we perform a procedure called Interproximal Reduction (IPR). This involves gently reshaping a very small amount of enamel between certain teeth to create the space needed for movement.

Think of it like making a little extra room so the teeth can line up properly. By creating that space, the teeth can rotate, shift, and slide into their ideal positions during Invisalign treatment. Without creating that room, the teeth may not move the way we need them to, which can prevent proper alignment and coordination of your bite.

Those small gaps you may see after IPR are temporary. As your aligners continue to guide your teeth into place, those spaces will gradually close.

Creating a little space at the beginning helps ensure you get the best possible final result: a properly aligned, healthy smile. Temporary space → properly aligned teeth → a healthier, straighter smile. 🦷✨

If you’re starting Invisalign or have questions about what to expect during treatment, our team is always happy to walk you through it.

Ever wonder how dentists can tell if you have a cavity? In this video, Dr. Washington walks you through exactly what we look for on a dental X-ray when diagnosing a cavity. Using a real patient’s X-ray, she highlights the areas of concern and explains how cavities appear to the trained eye.

To make it easier to see, Dr. Washington adds a special color overlay.
🟢 Green = Healthy🟡 Yellow = Caution🔴 Red = Problem

Think of it like a traffic light for your teeth. While dentists rely on the raw, original X-ray for diagnosis, this color guide helps you understand what’s happening in your mouth and why treatment may be recommended.

Whether you’re curious about your own dental health or just want to understand how dentistry works, this video breaks it down step by step.

Have silver fillings? It might be time for a check-up!

Over time, silver (amalgam) fillings can pull away from the edges of the tooth, leaving tiny gaps where bacteria can sneak in, leading to what’s called a secondary cavity. You might feel pain or nothing at all, but either way, it’s worth having them evaluated. We can replace them if they’re failing—or simply if you’d prefer a natural-looking option instead.

Let’s keep your smile healthy and beautiful.
