When this patient first came to us regarding her concerns with her smile, she believed that veneers were her only option. Many dentists would jump at the chance to complete a lengthy, costly treatment plan. However, here at Dentist of Walnut Creek, Dr. Stephenson believes that sometimes the most conservative options are the best!

Invisalign as an entry point can make a case go from good to great in just a few months. By positioning the teeth properly, we were able to preserve the integrity of the patient’s natural tooth structure while keeping the cosmetic changes as conservative as possible.

After discussing our patients goals, we realized that the teeth themselves were not the complaint, but rather the asymmetric gingival margin (gum line).

It turned out that simple, painless crown lengthening following the 3 months of Invisalign treatment allowed us to fix the asymmetry and give her the smile she’s always wanted!

Using advanced, high-end materials such as the microscope, alongside a sterile technique translates to long-lasting esthetics while saving our patients time and money!

This patient began with missing lateral incisors, resulting in a canine substitution that looked improper and unnatural. Crown lengthening allowed for ideal bone and gum draping, improving the length of the teeth. The conservative porcelain veneers then created the appropriate shape and positioning we wanted to obtain in her smile.

Single front implant crown: the most difficult thing for all dentist!

Challenges in restoring an individual anterior implant crown:
•Tissue draping naturally on the sides of the tooth
So often the surgeon and dentist lose this tissue
during treatment and takes planning and detailed
steps to minimize tissue loss and create a natural
look.
•Color matching one tooth
It is imperative to have an outstanding lab to create
layers of color and dimension. This is why we use
Ultimate Styles Lab in Irvine, CA. This can make or
break the final result and absolutely makes a
difference!
•Avoiding grey dead tooth look
Using some of the newer zirconia (strong, white
porcelain) as the abutment (substructure of the
crown) will minimize the grey metal from showing
through and leaving a grey “dead tooth” look.
Instead, the zirconia abutment shown here allows
for a more esthetic and translucent look on the
final crown.
