Just a friendly reminder that streets in downtown Wakarusa will be closed starting today, Thursday, April 23, for the 57th Annual Maple Syrup Festival this weekend. Please allow extra travel time when heading to your appointment. 🍁
Greetings, Wakarusa Businesses & Residents:
The 57th Annual Maple Syrup Festival is just around the corner. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure we can quickly clear streets at the appointed times. NO cars can be parked on the street, library parking lot, Quilt Garden Area, Reith, Rohrer lot, or old Dollar General Lot after the times listed below.
Alley Closures:
Please replace the barricades when entering and exiting (Hang Tag Required*). The volunteer police will be enforcing and monitoring these entrances and exits, and checking hang tags. Please make sure your tag is visible in your vehicle.
Street Closures:
8:00 am Tuesday, 4/21/2026, through Tuesday, 4/28/2026, the Dollar General lot will be closed. Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, S. at 5 pm, Elkhart Street (D&M Automotive to Town Square), NO CARS can be parked on the streets, as we set up rides along the entire street. Also, NO PARKING in the Quilt Garden Area.
Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. All streets are closed, and one-way begins around town. NO VEHICLES can be parked on the street in the downtown area. Also, NO PARKING at the Quilt Garden Area or Old Dollar General lot. This closure also includes the Rieth Rohrer and Library Parking Lots.
Parking Suggestions:
The Bible Baptist Church and Wakarusa Missionary Church are available for parking. Parking on the one-way perimeter around the town will need to be cleared by Saturday morning, and parking in those areas will return to normal on Saturday evening, 4/25/2026.
HANG TAGS:
Hang Tags can be picked up at the Town Hall during the week of the festival. If you are parked in an area that is restricted, your vehicle will be towed at your expense.
Festival Hours:
Friday, April 24th, 2026- 11 am to 9 pm
Saturday, April 25th, 2026- 9 am to 9 pm
Sunday, April 26th, 2026- 11 am to 6 pm
